Sachsen-Eisenach
Første oprettelse af et hertugdømme Eisenach skete 1572 med hertugdømmet Sachsen-Coburg-Eisenach. Staten blev i 1596 delt i Sachsen-Coburg og Sachsen-Eisenach, og sidstnævnte blev fra 1596 styret af Hertug Johann Ernst (038a-4). Johann Ernst døde uden arvinger, og området indgik fra 1638 til dels i Sachsen-Altenburg og til dels i Sachsen-Weimar.
Anden oprettelse skete i 1640, hvor staten blev styret af Albert IV (SE-005) til 1644. Han døde også unden arvinger, og området indgik i Sachsen-Gotha og i Sachsen-Weimar.
Den tredje oprettelse skete i 1662, hvor hertugen blev Adolf Wilhelm (SE-010) søn af Wilhelm den Store (SW-030). Herefter følges hertugrækken gennem profilerne SE-020 til SE-050, hvor slægtens mandlige linje uddøde, og området fra 1741 blev styret i personalunion med Sachsen-Weimar, først ved Hertug Ernst August I (SW-070), og fra 1815 som et storhertugdømme.

Sachsen-Lauenburg
Lauenburgs område har sin hovedudstrækning øst for en linje mellem Lübeck og Hamburg
og mod øst grænsende til Mecklenburg.
Lauenburg har til tider også omfattet arealer vest for Elben, men gennem flere udskiftninger til bl.a. Hannover
har hertugdømmets centrum været omkring Lauenburg og Ratzeburg.
Fra 1260 havde Sachsen været styret af Albert I's (025) to sønner Albert II (026) og Johann I (SL-010), men da Johann I abdicerede i 1282 overtog hans tre sønner Johann II (SB-010), Eric I (SR-020) og Albert III (SR-010) styret sammen med onklen Albert II (026) til 1296, hvor landet deltes så:
(026) Albert II fik Sachsen-Wittenberg;
(SB-010) Johann II fik Sachsen-Lauenburg sammen med broder Eric I og Albert III;
(SR-020) Eric I fik Sachsen-Lauenburg sammen med broder Johann II og Albert III;
(SR-010) Albert III fik Sachsen-Lauenburg sammen med broder Eric I og Johann II;
De tre brødre regerede sammen til 1305, hvor landet igen deltes, og
(SB-010) Johann II fik Sachsen-Mölln,
(SR-020) Eric I fik Sachsen-Bergedorf, og
(SR-010) Albert III fik Sachsen-Ratzeburg;
Indtil 1308, hvor Albert III døde og lod enken arve styret, som administreredes af hendes to svogre Johann II og Eric I,
Indtil 1315, hvor områderne justeredes uden yderligere opdeling,
men i 1338 døde Eric I, og hans søn Eric II (SR-030) overtog
hertugdømmet Sachsen-Ratzeburg-Lauenburg til dennes død 1368;

Da Driedrich Wilhelms to sønner var mindreårige, da deres far døde 1602, administrerede deres farbror Johann (SW-020) staten. Men da sønnernes værger allerede i 1603 krævede børnenes arvelodder udleveret, blev der indgået en kontrakt om fordelingen af hertugdømmet, og Johann (SW-020) fik Sachsen-Weimar, mens de to sønner Johann Philipp (SA-020) og Friedrich Wilhelm (SA-030) (først født efter fadeens død), fik området Sachsen-Altenburg.
De to sønner regerede fælles, men ældste var foresiddende, og Friedrich Wilhelm II's søn, Friedrich Wilhelm III, døde allerede i 15-årsalderen. Sachsen-Altenburgs mandlige slægtninge uddøde 1672 med (SA-040), og området blev igen forenet med Sachsen-Weimar hos efterkommere af Johann (SW-020).

Sachsen-Gotha regenter
inklusive Römhild-hertuger
Sachsen-Gotha-hertugdømmet blev grundlagt i 1640 af Hertug Wilhelm af Sachsen-Weimar (SW-030) for at tilgodese sin lillebror, Hertug Ernst I af Sachsen-Gotha (SG-010). Det blev oprettet med en del af tidligere Landgrevskab Thüringen, som var indgået i Weimar. Gotha-hertugdømmet fik hovedstad i Gotha.
Hertug Wilhelm (SW-030) var den femtefødte søn af Hertug Johann af Sachsen-Weimar-Jena (SW-020). Da faderen (SW-010) døde i 1573, arvede ældste søn Johann Wilhelm I af Sachsen-Altenburg (SA-010), men døde allerede 1602, og da lillebror Johann (SW-020) døde i 1605, så gik Weimar-hertugdelen til Johan Ernst (SW-025), der døde 1626.
Hertug Johann (SW-020) fik 10 sønner på stribe (og til slut en datter). Sønnerne var:

I 1825 uddøde slægten i S.-Gotha-Altenburg, der blev opdelt i:
A) S.-Gotha, der gik til S.-Coburg-Saalfeld, der senere overdrog Saalfeld til Sachsen-Meiningen, og
B) S.-Altenburg, der gik til S.-Hildburghausen, der igen videregav Hildburghausen til S.-Meiningen.

Saxony-Saalfeld og Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld regenter
Da hertug Ernst I der Fromme = Ernest I the Pious, Duke of Sachsen-Gotha (SG-010) døde 1675 skulle riget deles mellem hans syv overlevende sønner, og fra 1680 fik hans yngste søn, Johann Ernst ( 1729) magten over områdedelen Sachsen-Saalfeld, der dog var undelagt den ældste brors overøvrighed. Det var Hetug Friedrich I af Sachsen-Gotha-Altenburg. Hans linje uddøde i 1825.
Efter rækken af hertuger frem til 1825 havde haft magten i Sachsen-Gotha-Altenburg og i Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld, blev områderne i slægten på ny fordelt i 1826, så Hertug Ernst I (eller III) (SS-050) fra 12/11 1826 blev hertug over en sammenlægning af Gotha og Coburg i Hertugdømmet Sachsen-Coburg og Gotha.
